A guide to buying clothes online: fabric, measure and exchange

Buying clothes online is a challenge and fear for many people. On the other hand, some people prefer to shop online but don’t know how exactly to do it. To help both sides, we have separated some tips for buying clothes online and make no mistake.

Know your body measurements

The first step to buy clothes online is to know your measurements since there is no way to try on any garment. Take a tape measure and write down the measurements.

  • To measure the bust: men and women should pass the measuring tape at the height of the nipples.
  • To measure the shoulder: measure with the tape from end to end.
  • To measure the arm: count from the shoulder to the back of the hand.
  • To measure the waist: pass the tape through it, which is a finger above the navel.
  • To measure the leg: count the measurement from the hip bone to the heel.

Research about possible fabrics

Polyester, viscose, cotton: there are several types of fabrics and knowing them is also essential to get it right when buying clothes online. Cotton is more breathable, while polyester is not suitable for those who sweat a lot. When you are interested in a garment and check what fabric it is made of, look in your own clothes for garments with identical fabrics and think about how you feel when you are with them.

Compare your measurements with those in the store table

To find out what size you need to select before finalizing your order, compare the measurements you noted in item 1 with those in the table provided by the store. If they are at the limit of one size, we recommend buying a larger number, as a guarantee. Another option is to buy from different stores until you find the one that makes the most sense for you in terms of clothing quality, size, fabric and the least amount of change.

Chat with people who have already bought in the store

Before finalizing your purchase, remember to take a look at the comments of other consumers on the product page. There, they share their own opinions about the clothes and sometimes even give tips on how they looked on the body, whether the cut of the garment is usually big or small, etc. If you have acquaintances or friends who have already purchased at the store, it will be even easier to know their impressions.

If you don’t like it, use your right to exchange

Did you know that after making any purchase over the internet you can request a product exchange? The deadline for this to happen is seven days after purchase, so if you really don’t like a part, you can ask to return it. However, this type of exchange does not have specific rules in law, so you need to check the store’s exchange policy which must be fully complied with.
